Our BIG Announcement

Remember when I mentioned, I underwent a minor surgery? Whelp it just so happens there were two minor surgeries and it was all in the name of the Hubs and I building our family. We are beyond excited to share that our Woodley will be a big brother to a real life little human this spring! April first to be exact and it's no joke! But wait, how did we get here?!

The road has been LONG. After exhausting natural options, we went to Shady Grove Fertility to educate ourselves on a path forward. We started with three rounds of IUI and then after recognizing we needed to take further action, signed up for our first cycle of IVF.

You guys, IVF is serious business! Timing shots morning and night with personal and work travel was beyond challenging and before we learned about pre-icing, the shots were undeniably painful! Could it be more complicated? YES! The mixing of the medicine before injection? Thank goodness my partner in crime is ever steady and charming with a needle - I mean neither of us is a doctor or nurse! But after a few trials and errors, we were ready to retrieve and freeze my eggs.

And although cycle one of IVF did not take, we were confident and signed up for round two immediately because of the A-Team behind us: Dr. Devine, our coordinating nurse Morgan, our families and our dearest friends who asked questions, supplied hugs and were always there with kind words of encouragement. We knew it was a matter of time because science, people... SCIENCE! It's incredible what doctors are able to do these days and we knew that however messy the process got, we would have our own baby when the timing was right and always have love and support.

The Hubs' mom gets a special shout out here. Without hesitation, she flew down from their summer cottage in Massachusetts when we figured out the Hubs would be away during my next embryo transfer. From the morning of to the evening, she stayed with me, made sure I was fed and watered (including my fav ginger cookies from Whole Foods!) and steady again on my feet after anesthesia. Literally she's a lifesaver and does it with such style and flare!

And now as my belly grows more by the day, we are so very thankful and CANNOT WAIT to meet our baby! Keep it here for regular updates...
