Weekday Musings

It's been a week since we've been back from Japan and (my goodness!) I'm still catching up on sleep and battling that 14-hour time difference. I promise a post devoted to our trip is coming soon, I'm just going to get a little more shuteye first...

Eating | Not Japanese food. We went full Japanese while we were on the Pacific - miso, grilled fish and rice for breakfast, ramen for lunch and sushi for dinner. With only three cheat days of Italian for dinner (apparently a big thing in Japan), pizza for lunch and... my first ever Big Mac (sorry Mom!) Which means being back home we have welcomed getting back into our BlueApron routine and hitting some of our favorite food establishments like Red Hen
Home*Work | Nothing is in the works for house projects right now and that suits us just fine. Instead my mission is to fill our humble abode with flowers!  Can you believe that's one of the things I missed most being away for two weeks? I truly missed waking up to flowers in the house not just because of the sweet smell but also because they're just so darn happy. So yes, the sentiment above is true... I must have flowers always and always.
Crushing On | This year I included a two month spending freeze on my 101 list and starting the freeze now seems most appropriate after such a lovely vacation. And so it begins... I'm apologizing now for the increased use of Pinterest because OMG how cute are these sandals.... In May they will be mine!
Reading | Big Little Lies. It's a quick read and totally worth it before binging the new HBO series based off the book... which will happen this weekend and... I... CAN'T... WAIT! I love all the characters, drama, mystery and humor - it truly is a great and fast read.
Thankful For | J and P. My two besties are hitting the road and moving West. And although I am beyond excited for them and their next adventure... I can't help it... My heart hurts. They're our DC family, the people we see every week and the first people we call when we have a free moment for icey hikes, antiquing, all the food, cabin cuddling or a quick trip to see Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater in the rain. I love you guys and cannot wait until we are reunited (which will be soon right?! Right?!)
Thinking About | Tone It Up's "7 Day Slim Down." My GF's boyfriend is on his way to visit from the land down under so to support her I'm joining in on this "get fit program." I've never done anything like this but after Japan, I really could use a tune-up. Have any of you trusty readers tried this program or something similar? Were you happy with the results? I think my biggest fear is using protein powder. I've yet to use this muscle toner and am terrified I'll end up like Arnold Schwarzenegger with muscles popping up all over the place. It's likely irrational but...
Watching | Mindy Project. Everyone needs a chuckle these days and Ms. Kaling's delivery in the new season is spot on. And there is no sign of Danny. Don't get me wrong I love the guy but really it was time Mindy moved on and found a new man and the new guy Ben is a serious hottie.
Wearing | Rain boots and I couldn't be happier! No more bone chilling weather here, it's rain and all the flower gems that come with it from here on out. DC springs are hard to beat, especially when you're on Claritin. No pollen allergies are keeping me cooped up, this is my time!
