Handmade Valentines

Anyone who knows me, knows I love holidays but with Valentine's Day... it's true love. A holiday that celebrates snail mail is what dreams are made of. AND now I have a mini, I'm getting crafty!

So in addition to some tastefully markered heart cutouts for family and friends, baking 48 sugar cookies and procuring five pounds of delicious sour gummy lips - I made these heart shaped crayons for Henry's class. I love these little handmade Valentine's because they're not only unique but they're also not just another sweet. Big thanks to by GF Clara for the inspo, now here's a how to...

THE SUPPLIES

A variety of crayons
One sharp knife
A cutting board
A silicon mold (try this one from Michael's)
Cellophane bags
A card or label (I picked up mini cards with envelopes from our local Paper and Grace)

DIRECTIONS

Sort the crayons into colorways (try orange, pink and red; blue and purple; yellow and green).
Peel the paper labels from the crayons.
Using a sharp knife cut the selected crayons into a size that easily fits into your selected mold.
Place the mold onto a cookie sheet (it will help keep things steady) and fill the mold with your cut crayons.
Place the cookie sheet in the oven and bake 15-20 minutes at 250 degrees F.
Allow the crayons to cool and harden completely before filling your cellophane bags with your handmade Valentines and cards.

P.S. Did you make Valentine boxes to receive cards + candy at school? EEEepeeepp - I CANNOT wait for that stage with H!

Valentine's Day Edit '20

With only seven days until Valentine's Day, you know I can't pass up an opportunity to celebrate!

Mori Heart Zip Up Sleeper | I love an on-theme set of pajamas, especially for our mini.
Ferm Living Quilted Lumbar Pillow | I first set eyes on this smart cushion at a coffee shop in France and haven't stopped thinking about it since.
Red, White & Royal Blue | You've already heard about how this book pulled on my heartstrings, so what are you waiting for?!
Marimekko Bud Vase | Sometimes, I fantasize about this little number atop our master bath counter.
Gimbals Sour Pucker Up Gummy Lips | Two years ago these gummy candies ended up in my Amazon cart and I ordered 5 lbs. The probability of it happening again... is HIGH!
Naked Cashmere Puff Slippers | My hospital bag for the birth of Henry included the all black version of these foot snugglers - it's time for another pair!
Normann Copenhagen Circus Pouf | This ottoman was another overseas love at first sight moment.
Banquet Workshop Neon Heart Art Print | After admiring this print for what felt like a decade, our besties gave us this print as a house warming gift and it's getting framed just in time for the holiday.

Valentine's Day Edit '19

You guys! Valentine's Day is THIS week and you know I can't pass up an opportunity to celebrate, so here are a few things for the lover in your life whether it's your wee tot or your bestie...

Heart Felt Banner // A cheap and easy decor find from Amazon. We have a few of these banners strung around the house including over Henry's changing table and he LOVES it!

Ric Rac and Suede Slide // This Loeffler Randall Vera Sandal has long been on my wish list and at this price... EEPPP, if only it wasn't -18 degrees (!!!) Maybe I'll buy and stash them for the eventual warmer weather?

Cheree Berry Valentines // Always a snail mail devotee, I'm pretty excited about these little cards that will be sent out from Henry this year.

Striped PJs // Although Lake Pajamas is a new company to me, the classic stripes of this set has my heart a flutter.

Eames Elephant Seat // Vitra always delivers on design and these elephants designed in the 1940s by Charles and Ray Eames are no exception... But what color?!

Modway Spindle Chair // Given much of our furniture was damaged in our cross country move and we sold a significant amount before our departure, the Hubs and I are about to make some big purchases including a new dining set. I love the lines and color pop of this chair...

Tulip Drop Earrings // I've long lusted after the woven silk stylings of Rebecca de Ravenel. Thankfully her designs go on sale frequently so I'll be waiting these out.

Rose Hand Cream // Winter always means dry skin, enjoy this lotion for hydration and the sweet smell of romance - I promise you won't be disappointed!

BKR Water Bottle // Always one to have water on hand, I love the spunky color of this bottle.

Heart Handbag // Loeffler Randall seems to be on fire these days... The beading of this tote is sure to be a heart stealer!

Heart PJs for Your Little // YES, I bought this pair of Roller Rabbit pajamas for Henry and YES... I bought the adult version for me! Dreams really do come true.

Sour Lip Gummies // Another Amazon find - these will make a perfect addition to the treat bags for my co-workers.

It's no secret Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays! It may be manufactured but by golly what's not to LOVE? (Pun intended!) Valentine's Day Edit '17

Your cupid approved gifts are here! Never one to miss a chance to celebrate, here are a few things to make your heart thump...

Leopard Flats | I mean what says romance more than a  good leopard print? Plus... I dumped the Ivanka Trump version of this flat in the trash last week because of well... need I explain?! #sorrynotsorry
Matches | Set the mood with these babies and it's sure to be a bright night!
Mobile | Okay not exactly within the Valentine's Day theme but I adore this mobile and think it's pretty dreamy...
Calf Hair Clutch | The pale pink calf hair in combination with the red and navy grosgrain ribbon on this bag is totally swoon worthy. Oui! Obviously when I finally make it to Paris, I'll be carrying this little ditty.
Monster Valentines | These adorable cards help the Monster Mash live on in February and are cute to boot!
The Regulars by Georgia Clark | This book has been on my Amazon Prime wish list - anyone able to give it lip service? (Yes, I made myself giggle with that pun!)
Sugarfina Candies | If you haven't had sweets from this candy company you are missing out - they're  dangerously delicious!
Sailor Valentines | Although likely unintended by Rifle Paper Co., to me these cards are a funny nod to Fleet Week from Sex & the City and a great way to celebrate Galentine's Day.
Tassel Key Chain | Ever wonder what your bag is missing? Put a Pom on it. It's that simple!
Gingham PJs | Matching jammies make my heart sing and this red gingham set is no exception.
Cashmere Scarf | Classic and a perfect staple for any closet or upcoming trip.
Fo'Eva Valentine | The perfect card for your bestie or hubs.

Happy (early) Valentine's Day ya'll; hold your dear ones close!
